Now that winter is closing in on those of us who live above the equator, our thoughts turn to making sure that the house or apartment is winterized. That should include checking our portable heaters.

Space Heaters

If you don’t have a supply of these handy pieces of equipment, you might consider adding one, or several. They are relativity inexpensive and can help you cut down on your overall heating cost. Being able to move your heat source from room to room allows you to control the temperature where you are without having to warm the other parts of the house. Or perhaps you have a room that always needs some extra heat.

Portable Space Heaters

If you are in the kitchen baking, chances are that you will not need to increase the temperature. When you first get up and walk into the kitchen, it might be nice to have just a little extra heat while you start the coffee or tea pot going, After awhile, you will not need that extra boost provided by the portable heater.

Room Heaters

In the kids’ bedrooms, you might consider a portable heater with all the extra safety feature built into heaters these days like: automatic turn off if tipped over, no burn screen covering, and a variety of other great safety features. An oil-filled portable heater might be just the thing.

Auxilliary Heaters

Often in older homes, the central heating installation is not what we would like, resulting in cold drafty rooms. In the summer, the extra air is often welcomed, but not in the winter. I remember a home we had in Ohio (very cold winters!). The children’s bedroom windows would literately have ice form on the inside of them. Please, don’t misunderstand, we were not poor but we did live on a military base. So redoing the windows or insulation was out of the question. A space heater or a portable heater would have been great to have in several of the rooms.

Today, some of the portable heaters are made to look like an end table on castors and you just roll it from place to place. The technology is such that you can use the top as a table, and the sides are cool to the touch. It really is amazing what science has done for portable heaters.

Again, I would encourage you to consider these wonders of warmth for your comfort. Portable heaters can brighten your day and lighten your heating bills.
